In 1999 after 4 years of travelling throughout Europe I started to give private tuition as a hobby in France whilst working as an in-house instructor and later as a customer service advisor liaising with international customers. In 2001 I
relocated to the UK and worked as a customer services co-ordinator and worked with German- and French-speaking customers as well as customers based in Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
In 2004 I decided to train as a teacher and I enrolled in
a PGCE course (Secondary Modern Foreign Languages) at the
University of Southampton. I taught French and German in Secondary
schools in Hampshire. In June 2005 I set up nzLanguages
and started to offer French and German tuition in
to private individuals, schools and businesses, Le Club Français, Fleet Tutors, First Tutors and other tuition agencies. My students are adults re-locating to France or Germany,
people with regular business contacts with clients abroad,
British home owners in France, schooled and non-schooled children,
adults who wanted to learn a new language as a hobby or have
extra tuition to reinforce and improve their knowledge, bi-lingual children needing help with their written French/German and
students preparing for their GCSE, A-level, Common
Entrance, Test d'Evaluation de Français (TEF) Certificate
in Business Language Competence (CBLC) and Diplôme d'études en langue française (DELF).
In 2008-2009 I wrote the French AS-Level and A2-Level student course notes for Nelson Thornes Distance Learning.
In 2010 I obtained a Certificate of Competence in
Proofreading and Copy-editing from Chapterhouse Publishing and broadened my language services to writing,
typing and transcription.
In 2014 I started an evening French class for Adult Beginners at Foundry Lane Primary School where I also volunteer and provide a free French taster course to Year R children.
