PROOFREADING

It’s not always possible to give an exact amount as it all depends on the complexity/quality of the document and the deadline: e.g. a higher rate will be applied to a handwritten document that is not very legible. The standard rate based on a good quality document with a non-urgent deadline is £10.50 per 1,000 words. There is a minimum charge of 1,000 words. Again, each project needs to be assessed before I can give an exact amount. 50% of the total fee will be payable in advance upon acceptance of the quote. No work will be started until I receive the payment.

Please email or send your document and deadline for a quote. For material sent by post, please enclose a stamped and self-addressed envelope/jiffy bag, so that I can return the material safely to you.

TRANSCRIPTION & COPY TYPING

The fee depends on the quality of the source document and the deadline: if the handwriting is difficult to read, the manuscript messy or the audio document is hard to hear, then it will take more time to type. Please also note that typing from a tape/video is more time-consuming.

Transcription rates
My charges are calculated per recorded audio/video minute. There is a minimum charge of 15 minutes for audio and video recordings. There is no VAT to pay.

Audio – One speaker (dictation, presentation, speech, podcast, etc.):
English: from £0.85 per minute
French: from £1.00 per minute
German: from £1.20 per minute

Audio – Multiple speakers (interview, discussion, conference, etc.):
Please add 15p per minute to the above rates for 2-3 speakers and 25p per minute for 4 speakers or more.

Video – One speaker
English: from £1.00 per minute
French: from £1.20 per minute
German: from £1.35 per minute

Video – Multiple speakers (interview, discussion, conference, etc.):
Please add 25p per minute to the above rates for 2-3 speakers and 35p per minute for 4 speakers or more.

Verbatim transcription (i.e. omitting the ‘ums’, ‘errs’, ‘you knows’, ‘kind of’, ‘sort of’, repetitions due to hesitation, laughs, coughs, etc.) is not included but can be done upon request. Please add 25p/minute for a verbatim transcription.

Copy Typing rates
My charges are calculated per 1,000 words. There’s a minimum charge of £10. There is no VAT to pay.
Text only
English: from £6 per 1,000 words
French: from £8 per 1,000 words
German: from £9 per 1,000 words

50% of the total fee will be payable in advance upon acceptance of the quote. No work will be started until I receive the payment.

LANGUAGE LESSONS

Face-to-face lessons (1-2-1 or group lessons): From £8/hour. Discount for block booking. 30-minute lessons available for KS1 and KS2.

Online tuition (1-2-1 only): from £8/lesson.

Payment methods for all services: cash, cheque, postal orders, bank transfer, credit/debit card via PayPal. Cheques and postal orders should be made payable to "N. Zine". There is a processing fee of 4% for payments made through PayPal.
